Following a Foundation degree at Central Saint Martin’s, Olivia Rose went on to study Fashion Photography at London College of Fashion in 2005. For the first two years of her degree, Olivia struggled to find her niche and even toyed with the idea of giving up photography. However, when she began shooting what was to become her major body of work, she found herself questioning the essence of Photography and began to develop the intimate, nostalgic and serene style that she applies today.

Olivia Rose is an avid fan of analogue photography and began a lifelong love affair with Polaroid during her degree. ‘I always shoot on film or Polaroid because the process is different to digital. I think it’s a shame to treat photography as disposable since there is definitely something lost when you shoot and preview each frame as you go. I love the mystery of film and manual photography… I love mistakes and sometimes I even try and create them. In the past I have boiled and bleached film and love using expired film.’

Olivia is keen to bring an element of the unpredictable to her editorial work by continuing to shoot projects that would typically be outside the brackets of traditional ‘Fashion Photography.’ She travelled to India in March to take pictures for the Hope Foundation, a charity working with the street children of Kolkata.

Olivia has recently collaborated with the Inko Dancers and Amplified Clothing.

Olivia is soon to be feautred in the A/W 09 issue of b_magazine.
